Getting to Ubud

By Air

The nearest major airport is Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar. From there, you have several options to reach Ubud:

  • Taxi or Ride-Sharing: Taxis are available at the airport, but for a more convenient option, consider using ride-sharing apps like Grab or Gojek. Both services allow you to easily book a ride to Ubud, taking approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic.
  • Airport Shuttle: Some services offer direct shuttles to Ubud. Be sure to book in advance.
  • Private Transfers: For a more comfortable option, consider booking a private transfer through your accommodation or a local service.

By Land

If you’re already in Bali, Ubud is easily accessible by:

  • Bus: Public buses run from various parts of Bali to Ubud. While budget-friendly, they may take longer.
  • Car Rentals: Renting a scooter or car offers the freedom to explore Bali at your own pace. Remember to check local traffic rules and conditions.

Visa Information & Requirements for Bali, Indonesia

  1. Visa Requirements
    Most visitors to Indonesia can enter without a visa for stays of up to 30 days. If you plan to stay longer, you may need to apply for a visa before your trip or extend your stay upon arrival.
    • Visa on Arrival (VoA): Available for citizens of select countries, offering a 30-day stay, with the option to extend for an additional 30 days.
    • Tourist Visa: For those intending to stay longer than 30 days, it is recommended to apply for a tourist visa in advance.

Tip: Always check the latest visa regulations on the official Indonesian immigration website or consult your local Indonesian embassy.

  1. Health and Safety Protocols
    • SatuSehat Health Pass: Travelers are required to complete the SatuSehat Health Pass before arrival in Bali. This health declaration form is free to fill out and helps authorities ensure the safety of all travelers.
      • The form will request information such as your vaccination status and any health conditions.
      • It’s typically submitted online before travel, and you will receive a confirmation receipt or QR code once completed.
    • COVID-19 Requirements: There are currently no specific COVID-19 testing requirements for fully vaccinated travelers. However, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers may still need to provide a negative COVID-19 test result.
    • Travel Insurance: It is advisable to have valid travel insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment and emergencies during your stay in Bali.
  2. Customs Declaration
    • Currency: If you’re carrying over IDR 100 million (about USD 6,500) or its equivalent in foreign currency, you must declare it.
    • Duty-Free Allowances: The following duty-free goods can be brought in within limits:
      • Alcohol: 1 liter per person (for adults over 21).
      • Cigarettes: 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, or 100 grams of tobacco.
      • Perfume: 50 milliliters.
    • Prohibited Items: Drugs, gambling devices, pornographic materials, unlicensed firearms, and certain animal products are prohibited.
    • Customs Form: You will need to complete a customs declaration form if you’re carrying restricted items or exceeding duty-free limits.
  3. Tourist Tax Levy
    • Amount: IDR 150,000 (approx. USD 10) per person.
    • Payment Method: The levy must be paid online through the official Bali Tourism Levy website or an authorized platform.
    • Payment Timing: It is recommended to pay before your trip, but payment is also accepted at the airport.
    • How to Pay: After entering your passport and travel details, pay via credit card or other local methods. You will receive a receipt or QR code as proof of payment.
    • Airport Inspection: Keep your receipt or QR code handy as it may be checked during your arrival.
  4. Required Documents for Entry
    • Valid Passport: Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date in Bali.
    • Return or Onward Ticket: Proof of a return or onward flight may be required.
    • Sufficient Funds: You may need to show proof of sufficient funds for your stay, such as bank statements or credit cards.
